NYBCP

North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership was the first Local Authority Building Control Partnership in the UK. It provides a flexible and modern building control service on behalf of Hambleton, Richmondshire, Ryedale, Scarborough and Selby Councils.

The Partnership processes Building Regulation applications under the provisions of Section 91 and 92 of the Building Act 1984. Building Regulations exist to secure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and about buildings, together with conservation of fuel and power and access and facilities for disabled people.

In addition to Building Regulations, the Partnership undertakes work in relation to dangerous structures and demolition notifications across the partnership area. Street naming and numbering is carried out for the Scarborough Borough Council only.
